Pet Dental Care
in Long Beach

Everyone knows that people need to seek professional dental care for cleanings, exams, and treatment for oral health problems. What many folks don’t realize, however, is that dental care is just as important for dogs and cats. Tooth and gum problems are common among companion animals, with roughly 70% of dogs and cats suffering from some degree of dental disease by age three. And when left untreated, problems originating in the oral cavity can have dire consequences.

At Parkview Pet Hospital, we provide safe and effective pet dental care near you and are here to give your furry friend the healthy, pain-free smile they deserve. Whether your dog or cat needs an exam and cleaning, an extraction, or any other type of pet dental care in Long Beach, we can help.

Why Pet Dental Care Is Important

While it often starts as a case of bad bread, dental disease is a much more formidable foe than it may seem and impacts your pet’s overall health and happiness. Poor dental health often causes discomfort, pain, and eating difficulties. When left untreated, it can allow bacteria to enter the bloodstream, potentially leading to problems with your pet’s lungs, kidneys, liver, or heart. By bringing your dog or cat in for regular dental cleanings and exams, you’re doing your part to prevent these all-too-common problems.

Our Dental Services

At Parkview Pet Hospital, we provide comprehensive dental services to ensure your companion’s oral health. From exams and cleanings to oral surgery, we do it all, and your pet’s well-being is always our top priority.

Aside from basic visual exams, we perform all dental services while the patient is under general anesthesia to ensure their safety and comfort. Using anesthesia also allows us to do a thorough job of examining and cleaning the teeth above and below the gumline.

Prior to administering anesthesia, we will perform an exam, which may include blood work and/or other testing, to ensure that your pet is healthy enough to safely be anesthetized. Once they are asleep, we will carefully clean their teeth and gums using state-of-the-art dental tools and examine their oral cavity. Based on our findings, we may perform or recommend tooth extractions or other services. We strive to complete dental services as quickly as possible to minimize anesthesia time.

A member of our team will monitor your pet’s vital signs throughout their dental procedure. Someone will also keep an eye on them afterward as they recover from anesthesia. If necessary, we will provide detailed aftercare instructions to help you care for your pet as they recover from their dental procedure at home.
