Pets suffering from allergies sometimes exhibit the same symptoms as humans, including coughing, sneezing, hives, and itchy skin. They are also prone to repeated ear infections and gastrointestinal symptoms. In some cases, allergies cause dermatological conditions, skin disorders, and/or excessive hair loss and shedding.

When you bring your pet to us for allergy testing, we will perform various tests to determine which allergens are causing a reaction in your pet. If we suspect that your dog or cat is suffering from food-related allergies, we will work with you to create an elimination diet to get to the root of the problem.

Once we have determined which allergens trigger a reaction in your pet, we will create a plan to eliminate or, at the very least, manage their symptoms.

With food allergies, this usually means permanently removing the offending ingredient from your pet’s diet. We may also recommend hydrolyzed foods or injectable allergy medications.

Oral and injectable allergy medications may be used to treat your pet’s reactions to airborne allergens. We may also suggest programs to desensitize your dog or cat to allergens that are frequently present in their environment, like pollen and grass.
