X-RAY & ULTRASOUND FOR
DOGS AND CATS
X-RAYS
In the veterinary world, x-rays are commonly used to examine a pet’s teeth, bones, ligaments, and tendons. They are also used to capture images of the internal organs as well as foreign objects that a patient may have ingested. Digital x-ray equipment is fast, accurate, and provides exceptional detail in still images.
ULTRASOUND
Ultrasound technology uses soundwaves to capture images and videos of soft tissue and fluid-filled organs, such as the spleen, kidneys, liver, reproductive organs, intestinal tract, and eyes. While x-rays can be used to assess the shape and size of an organ, an ultrasound shows a complete picture of the inside of an organ and allows veterinarians to see things that may be hidden on an x-ray.
In many cases, x-rays and ultrasounds are used together to reach and confirm a diagnosis. Both technologies are vital in the world of veterinary medicine and are safe and accurate.
